Janki Ghat

Devotional

Janki Ghat is dedicated to Sita, the consort of Lord Rama, also known as Janaki (daughter of King Janaka). It is believed that Sita used to bathe at this spot during her time in Ayodhya. The ghat has a distinct feminine energy and is often frequented by women devotees.

The ghat was rebuilt by the Queen of Tikamgarh in 1860, showcasing excellent masonry. It is generally quieter than the main ghats, offering a peaceful spot for meditation. Nearby, there are several small shrines dedicated to Sita and her life.

The ghat is often used for folk singing sessions where groups of women sing songs about the wedding of Rama and Sita (Vivah Geet).
