Lassi in Ayodhya is served in 'Kulhads' (unglazed clay cups). The porous clay absorbs a bit of the moisture from the yogurt, making the remaining lassi incredibly thick and creamy.
It is hand-beaten to create a froth and sweetened with sugar. It is a cooling respite from the Uttar Pradesh heat. Once finished, the clay cup is smashed, returning to the earth.
