Mani Parvat

Sacred Site

Mani Parvat is a 65-foot high hillock located near the Kami Gunj area. It offers a commanding view of the city and the surrounding areas. The mythology behind it is fascinating: it is believed to be a fragment of the Dronagiri Mountain (Sanjeevani Booti mountain) that fell off while Lord Hanuman was carrying the entire mountain to Lanka to save Lakshman.

Another legend suggests it was created from the jewels (Mani) left behind by artisans after building a palace for Sita. Archaeologically, it appears to be an ancient Buddhist stupa mound, suggesting Ayodhya's multi-layered religious history.

It is a popular spot during the Sawan Jhula festival, where idols of deities are brought here to swing. The climb is short but steep.
