With the Deepotsav festival becoming a global event, the demand for earthen lamps (Diyas) in Ayodhya has skyrocketed. The local potter community (Kumhars) works year-round to produce these.
They use the silt-rich clay from the Saryu river basin. The lamps are thrown on wheels, sun-dried, and baked in kilns. They are eco-friendly and biodegradable.
Buying these directly from the potters supports the local economy and ensures the continuation of the festival of lights.
