The sound of bells is the soundtrack of Ayodhya. The brass bells (Ghanti) sold here are famous for their acoustic quality. While the heavy casting is often done in the metal hub of Jalesar, the finishing and tuning are done by artisans serving the Ayodhya market.
A good Ayodhya bell is said to produce the sound of 'Om' when struck, with a resonance that lasts for several seconds. They range from tiny bells for home altars to massive bells weighing hundreds of kilograms for temples.
Devotees buy them to hang in their home temples to clear negative energy.
